On friday I made my way up to College Station where she goes to A&M and we then traveled together up to my grandparents that live in Gordonville on the border of Oklahoma at Lake Texhoma. Its a country side filled with trees and creeks which is amazing to me since ive lived most of my life in the desert and now the coast. I love hiking through nature because of all the joys it has to offer in small suprises. So we played a lot of kanasta and talked a lot as well, it was really nice to be able to catch up with them. Today we left there and came to Denton to visit my cousin, which aren't blood related, and we went hiking on this trail that my aunt works on. Then we went to lunch and visited theyre town square for ice cream. It has been a really good weekend seeing family on my own and not worrying about my parents, this is college life at its best...

staying caught up

I have a really big problem of staying current in school. I was sick for a week and that really did me in, but after that I was trying to catch up with also trying to do the work for that week. I am a really lazy person which is my downfall in school, I do not like to over exert myself in things I find boring. This is a problem for me because I am not doing the best in school right now, I have missed a lot of class, missed tests and assignments and am just not interested... But this weekend my friends talked some sense into me and made me realize I need to get my act together and get on it, so I am planning on getting a lot better in school and try more at keeping up sense that is my biggest problem.

New Friends

Well I am a new freshman here on campus, if you havnt gathered that from my other blog posts, so I don't really know many people here, but for the past month I have been getting aquainted with some people from my classes. Since I have been here I havnt hung out with many people besides my roommate because we live off campus and most people interact and do things on campus. So this weekend I finally hung out everyday with my friends, we went to two movies such as Inglorious Bastards and Zombieland, both were hillarious and good. I also went to a bar to eat with the same group of people at Floats. I believe that friends are an important quality of life, people are born into this world alone and die alone, in between you should fill yourself with fun and laughter which is brought upon mainly between friends. Friends are a way to spread joy around. If we were to put aside our differences and everyone befriend each other, there would be no more hate, violent wars or crime; because nobody want to screw over a friend especially one they care for and enjoy hanging out with. I have been through some tough shit in my life and I would never have made it here without the support of family and especially friends.

First impressions of college life

Well I am freshman at A&M in Galveston and I have to say it is entirelly different than most colleges, especially its sister school in College Station. I have always been an aggie because my whole family are aggies and I have always gone to College Station for games and to visit cousins graduating and things like that, so I always thought I'd have gone there. When I found out I was coming here instead I seemed nervous because I had never gone to this college before. When I arrived they had big smiles and a lot of help for me. I was really glad to have come here because its a smaller college than the one in College Station but its still A&M so i didnt disapoint the family. I love the fact that we are on the coast and I have met people that I enjoy hanging out with that share my intrests as well. I didn't know what I would major in when i first got here, but after talking to a professor at my conference dinner I realized there was a major that had my interest of old gally ships. So I decided to go for it and see what it was all about. My professors have helped me a lot since I've been here and I'm really thankful for that, because I would be lost without their help. I am going to love these next four years of school and the major that I am in.

Indigenous People

I believe that there is no way in determining who has the athority to control history. It is the past there is nothing we can do to change it, we can only interpret it and try to understand what, why, and how people did things back then. I think that no one should have the right to control history because it is a subject of interest people have, so if you were to start controling history then you are really controling nothing but the ability to make something true or false. So there is always a truth, but sometimes people try to deny or hide the truth to make people believe something different so that way it changes their outlook toward that particular time in history, whether for the bad or good. There is lots of evidence mainly in newspapers and tv shows that tell lies to keep the people in society calm and not frightened, when there is actually a lot of things happening that are hushed up. I believe that everyone has the right to know the truth and for people to not have to deide what is true and what is not. For instance when Custard first fought the indians he was a hero, it wasnt until later in history that people found out the truth and then labled him a coward. I say that every politician is a coward because they are scared to tell the people the truth in fear that they will revolt or be frightened, but what is a government without the backing support from its people. There are a lot of people who do not care as long as they are safe, when they are in more danger because they are unaware of what is really happening. So I would have to say that it doesnt matter if indigenous people control theyre history, as long as somebody has the intrest of perserving it and passing the knowledge on.

Different Realities

We all seem to have our own sense of reality and what we believe to be real and what actually is real. So if you have one opinion on reality then that means I might have an entirely different opinion on what you believe to be reality. We all come from different parts of the world whether it be a hundred mile difference or a million mile difference in land we are all raised differently. For instance I lived in Del Rio for half of my life and have grown up with more of a Mexican view on things than a white persons view, so while i was growing up a little more so called “gangsta” other kids my age were growing up more so called “proper”.

Autobiography II

Well I came to A&M Galveston only because I waited till the last minute to decide to go to college. But now I am finding my place in this world and have become entangled in this college community and way of life. I did not know what I was going to study when I first arrived here and after a 40 minute presentation on maritime studies I realized I should follow my passion for ships and scuba diving. I have always had an interest in gally ships and mainly old time pirate life. So I hope to get a degree in Maritime Studies and then go to graduate school and get a degree in nautical archaelogy. So that in time I will be able to dive in the carribean ocean and find ancient ships to study find information to spread to the world on how life frightening pirates survived and lived back in the day.
